During the holistic approach, the therapist considers, not only the symptoms and medical history of the client but also their lifestyle and circumstances and so tries to alleviate the root cause of the disease, or imbalance, thereby caring for the whole person and aiding them to heal themselves.
The word "holistic" is derived from "whole". The holistic approach to health differs from the conventional medical approach in that it takes into account the whole patient rather than just focusing on the symptom or the part that has the problem. Complimentary/Holistic Therapy treats the whole person rather than just the symptoms of a disease and considers not only physical health but also the emotional, spiritual, social, and mental well-being of the person. Concentrating on maintaining and improving health rather than just treating pain and disease. It describes an approach to patient care in which the physical, mental, and social factors in the patient's condition are taken into account.
The benefits of Complimentary Therapy may include improving the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Help with stress relief, improving the lymph circulation and many more.
Most holistic therapists believe that the body has a vital force or life energy. It is this force that protects the body from disease and allows it to heal. We often refer to it as the "immune system". When the balance of the immune system is disturbed we the see the various symptoms of disease. Holistic therapies aim to help the patient restore the balance, thus allowing the body to heal itself naturally.
Viewed this way, symptoms become valuable messengers. They let us know when we have lost our balance and that we will need to make some adjustments if we are to regain our health. If we ignore or just suppress the message then we can expect bigger problems later on.
All Treatments will begin with a consultation during which I will ask the client a series of questions about how she/he is feeling, medical history, taking any medication and any medical conditions she/he has. Also why that particular treatment has been requested. This is an opportunity for me to ensure that there are no reasons why any Treatment should not be carried out that day. (E.g. feeling unwell, any injuries to avoid etc.) This is also an opportunity for the client to ask any questions he/she may have about the treatment, make any requests, and understand exactly what to expect of the treatment.
If you have not previously tried any holistic treatments, why not mix and match them. Please mention at the time of booking if you have any medical conditions, which may affect your treatment. I may need written doctor's permission, before I am able to offer any treatments.
Or I may ask you to sign a disclaimer form before the treatment is carried out. Equilibre reserve the right to refuse to carry out a treatment which they feel is not suitable. Clients can purchase bespoke Aromatherapy products, further information available on request.
